Friends of FDRD, Summer
starts early for FDRD – in May with our Forest Stewards Program and early
June with our first service project, Forest Clean Up Day. And don’t forget to mark your
calendar on May 20 for the County-Wide Town Clean Up Day. We hope you are as excited as we are

The following deadlines are fast approaching:
FDRD May Wish List ·
Service Project Team Members – We need 5 volunteers to help coordinate our
Forest Clean Up on June 3.
Duties include: flyer creation and distribution, food solicitation and
pick up, and volunteer and media relations. Be a part of the team that makes this day happen! Contact Scott Fussell at 970-846-1530

Fundraising/Grant Writing
Sub-Committee Meeting – We need YOU to help
build FDRD into a sustainable organization that will be an important part of
the Summit County community for years to come. Please contact Guff Van Vooren at fdrd.guff@gmail.com or 970-389-6058 if
you are interested in participating in our grant writing and fundraising
efforts. A meeting time/date
will be determined based on your schedule availability. Summit County Town Clean Up – Saturday, May 20 – Join your fellow community members in beautifying your town – come pick up the unsightly litter that is now exposed due to the recent snow melt! Contact your town for details. FDRD Forest Clean Up – Saturday, June 3 - Help pick up trash visible after the spring snowmelt at Green Mountain Reservoir. We will meet at the Dillon Ranger District Office at 9am. WHAT’S
HAPPENED
Earth
Day Action Fair – FDRD,
along with 20 other local environmental organizations, celebrated Earth Day
2006, by providing Fair-Goers with various opportunities to make a positive
difference on Planet Earth. A
huge thanks goes out to everyone who visited FDRD’s booth, with interest in
our service projects and Forest Stewards Program. A huge congratulations goes out to the recipients of the
Green Scene Awards and to the hosts of such a successful event – BRAVO! |

DRD HAPPENINGS DRD Job Openings – DRD is currently hiring for the following positions: ·
Three
Trail Crew Members – June 1 – Oct. 1, 2006. Duties include trail maintenance and
restoration. $11/hour. If interested and for more information,
