Your Donation to FDRD makes a difference!

Millions of people spend time in Summit County every year due to the diverse opportunities for outdoor recreation. FDRD partners with the US Forest Service, local organizations, and community volunteers, to keep the 487 square miles of National Forest in Summit County, sustainable for years to come. Supporters of FDRD know that their donation will provide tangible benefits for a place that many of us hold dear to our hearts.

About Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (FDRD)

With more than 60 volunteer projects on our National Forest each year, FDRD volunteers contribute thousands of hours maintaining and improving trails, planting trees, pulling invasive weeds, educating visitors, and much more. FDRD is one of the most active, locally-based outdoor stewardship organizations in the country and by volunteering with FDRD or supporting us with a financial contribution, you benefit the National Forest that makes Summit County a world-class destination.

What People Say About Us

“When I moved to Summit County many years ago, I felt it was important to give back to the amazing natural environment that I had chosen to be part of. FDRD was the perfect organization that incorporated volunteers for our forests and wildlife. It has been very rewarding to see FDRD grow to one of the largest and strongest nonprofits in the county and serve as a model for other organizations around the country. Our very unique mountain community would not be the same without their commitment to keeping Summit County and the Dillon Ranger District one of the best ever.”
Gail Shears, FDRD Member & Volunteer
“FDRD – How do I love thee? Let me count the ways! Fun, friendship, giving back to our precious public lands, learning about mushrooms, wildflowers, nature photography and much more, the awesome Ranger Patrol program, trail crew projects, social events, I could go on and on!”
Suzanne Reed, FDRD Member & Volunteer

“I began volunteering with FDRD two weeks after my husband and I moved to Summit County from Chicago. Over the past 12 1/2 years I have enjoyed working on trails, at the Dillon Farmers Market, various fundraising events and also on the Board. Everyone involved with FDRD loves the forest and works hard to ensure that our national forest and the trails we hike, bike and ski are in great shape for us ,now, and for future generations to enjoy. I love FDRD and everything it stands for!”

Kari Kronborg, FDRD Member & Volunteer

“I feel honored that I can give back to our public lands by volunteering with the Friends Of The Dillon Ranger District. The years with FDRD have only increased my appreciation for these lands and the people who take care of them. We are so lucky to live in and enjoy the Dillon Ranger District”
